Who makes the rain...

I had to run out for one of those "mom errands". You know the one... the 11th hour & you have to have X for a school project. Yes - even homeschool moms get those. We have one day each week that we "go to school" (Classical Conversations) nearby.  Each week the kids all give a short presentation. This week the presentations are supposed to be a demonstration. Thing1 is doing his presentation on different ways to eat Oreo cookies which is not something I had in the house. (Story for another day - I landed 2 separate corporate training jobs doing this demonstration speech...)

So I decide its time to run to the store with all 4 in tow and stop by a fast food place for burgers on the way home since its the night Hot Husband plays softball and I can get away without cooking real food. Naturally, as we are walking out the door I realize its raining. Fantastic. 4 kids and my pregnant self into the grocery store and back out in the rain. Anyone with more than one child can tell you that when they are all ready and you can leave, you have to leave or it will dissolve in to chaos and calamity within 5 minutes. So we left. By the time we arrived (about 5 miles away) it was no longer raining. After we got our grocery items and were sitting in the drive through lane at the fast food place, I said "Thank you, God for making the rain stop!"

To which Thing3 replied "I am pretty sure God's not in charge of the rain."

Me: ??? (looking at him like he's nuts and surely hasn't been paying attention EVER in his life)

3: Pretty sure its Noah, Mom. You know he was the one who built the boat because of the rain coming. I think he has a big pump and he turns it on and it starts raining. Then when its been enough rain, Jesus says "Stop it, Noah" so Noah turns the pump off and it all dries up.

Even the older two were cracking up.

To his credit, the story of Noah is his current Bible story obsession... guess we need to do a little clarification on the details.
