Playing catch-up

At my uncle's insistence, I am going to push forth with this blogging thing. He insists that the amusing fodder my kids say/do on a regular basis will cause a great following on a blog. He may be the only one reading this ever, but since he's so awesome, I'll do it just for him!

So to catch up from previous posts with a bit about me... I have 4 kids. Boy, girl, boy, boy. Currently they are Thing 1: 9 1/2, Thing 2: 7, Thing 3: 3 1/2 and the baby turns one in 2 days. (ouch!) We don't know if we are "done", but we do know what causes it. :)

We are homeschooling, using Classical Conversations as our guide and community, and loving every second. Having just returned to a regular schedule after the holidays, we're adjusting a little today.

Today I started a more formal, structured schooling with Thing 3. He has some interesting personality traits that make him my polar opposite crave routine and structure. So we were working on letter sounds. The letter H to be exact. He was totally getting it.

Me: What sound do you hear at the beginning of "hat"?
Thing 3: I hear "huh"!
Me: Yes! What about "hand"?
Thing 3: I hear "huh"!
Me: Right! What about "hotdog"?
Thing3: I hear mustard and ketchup!!

And so it begins...
