Not that the valley has been a cake walk. Not that we haven't cried, gnashed our teeth and begged for Him to let us out of the pit of our own making. But we have been thankful for the lessons. Thankful for the provisions He's provided proving He gives what we need... (ask any 3yo -what I need is not always what I want and how like 3yo's we are sometimes to God) and sometimes gives far more abundantly than all that we can ask or think.(Eph 3:20) Like the bicycle and skateboard our church gave us for the older 2 kids this year at Christmas. We didn't even have those gifts on our parental radar, but God knew my kids would love them (even my non-athletic Thing1 - I wouldn't have guessed he'd love a skateboard in a million years) and saw fit to make sure they were given to us. My kids know God gave us those presents and they were pleasingly humbled and thankful. Thing 2 was upset I wouldn't tell her exactly who provided them to us because she wanted to thank them herself! Abundantly more...
But with extensive prayer over the last 12 months, God has shown us a new path one step at a time that has led us to this place of great anticipation where we are certain to be graced with one of those things it's easy to thank God for instead of one of those situations where thanks is difficult to come by. We are so thankful for the journey that I doubt we'd change it given the chance. OK, to be honest, I may lessen the duration of the journey, but certainly wouldn't dream of cancelling the trip! The scenery of growing closer as a married couple and tighter knit as a family is worth more than the price of any suffering endured in the (hindsight) short term.
It seems that there will be much change in the the household of this Tribe. I can't wait to have something concrete to share!
